Milan Kundera

"And there's nothing more beautiful than the instant before the trip, the moment when the horizon of tomorrow come to visit us and to tell us about his promises."
Milan Kundera

When we arrived in Bordeaux, we were still in "tourist mode" and not "sailing mode" but our first thought was the trip by boat we were going to do. It was the pre-Christmas period and my only concern was to spend Christmas on a boat, away from home. However, the city has received us well, being a very nice place. If I think about it, we didn't really know what we were going to face and we explored this city with in mind what we were to accomplish more than with a tourist curiosity.

Bordeaux is pretty. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, a famous argument in my head, has an old town full of historic buildings and is crossed by a river, the Garonne. One of the points of the city that I liked the most is the "Porte Cailhau," which resembles the castle of Disney princesses.

However, the main beauty lies in the abundance of historic buildings that create interesting views at every point of the old town. It seems that the great historical value buildings are more than 300. Which is why this part of town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

During our stay in Bordeaux we found even an old antiques market, filled with lovely trinkets.

Looking at the buildings with upturned head, you can see the windows and the roofs in French style. I love the rooms located in the roofs. I find them beautiful.

And finally, the doors. Another element that is often able to transmit color and originality, Do you know the #ohmyprettydoor project by Manuela Vitulli? It is a hashtag that aims to "categorize" the most beautiful doors that you find in your city or around the world.

I forgot to mention the magnificent square in the first two photos. It is the Place de la Bourse, located in front of the Garonne. A magnificent expanse of artificial water works as a real mirror for the Palace of the Chamber and the Industry that dominates the square. This is the largest "miroir d'aeau" in the world. Beautiful both during day and night.
