Where the wild roses grow

H.D.Thoreau

"Nature was something wild and terrible though beautiful. I watched with awe the earth that I stamped down, to see what the Forces had accomplished - the form, the manner, the material of their work. This was the land that we hear about, created by chaos in the mists of time. There were no gardens, but the globe untouched. It was the fresh and natural surface of the planet Earth as it was originally made for the centuries of the centuries as the home of man. "
H.D.Thoreau

What I like most about the Vara's Valley are the woods. It is difficult to decide if I like more the sea or the mountain, when in doubt I divide the heart in the middle between the two environments. The woods take thousands of colors depending on the season; the best time for me is autumn because the leaves are yellowed and red and they give a hint of melancholy to the nature. I also like the sound of footsteps when I'm walking on dry leaves; they break under my feet and rend the silence with their shrill sound. Everything in those days was being prepared to the cold winter and the arrival of the first snow.

E' fantastico!

Here is a selection of photos taken in the wooded forest of my grandmother Marisa. Yes, she owns a forest.
This is amazing!

  5. No, I've seen your new site here and such, I just haven't been leaving comments lately! Sadly, I've been really behind on blogging (I haven't been able to read anyone's for about a week now, sadly). :( So don't worry--I'll catch up. :) I think you chose an excellent quote here. I think we had to first read Thoreau in 11th grade. Not sure. High school sometime. He was such a minimalist wrapped into nature. My fiance really admires him, as does my friend Ty. Anyway, I love taking walks in the woods, or hikes. There are always things to see. The trees in the forest, the forest of the trees. Big and small, tiny and large.
